CHAIRMANS
CHATTER
Many thanks to everyone who provided logos or comments for the Committee to discuss at our last meeting - a few are here in the Newsletter for you to see and discuss. The one thing that separates the CRC from many walking clubs is the fact that we are Christian; the Committee thought that it was important that the logo reflected this in some way. Some thoughts on how we could place more emphasis on this area of the Clubs life were shared at the recent leadership training weekend (apologies to those who were present).
In 2 Corinthians 5:20 Paul calls us ambassadors for Christ. However, to be an ambassador we must first be reconciled to God. A bit basic you may say, but sometimes things do come between us and God. I pray that if this is true of any of us, the barrier may be removed so that we can come back into a full relationship with God again, and experience the true joy that only Christ can give.
As we experience and reflect the new life given to us in Christ, it will have an effect on the Clubs witness to others (such as the hostel staff or friends who join us on the walks) as it may cause them to ask why we are different. So, in closing, may I leave you with the challenge - how much are we going to allow God to be part of our weekends? Just a quick prayer before the walk, joining a service on Sunday, or more? Let me know if you have any thoughts on this subject. A couple of things that have been suggested in the past are praying for the churches we pass on our walks or discussing a topic in small groups as we walk along. Not all of us feel comfortable with this, so sensitivity needs to be shown; but please do pray that Christ will take His central place in our lives and in the life of the CRC.
