CHAIRMANS CHATTER
I have heard some folk say that they are glad 2001 is over, as it seemed to be filled with one disaster after another. What with the foot and mouth crisis, and then Sept 11th, let alone any personal issues they may of have had! As Christians, we can feel this way too, as we are not immune or isolated from what is going on around us.
We know from Scripture that David had tough times, both personally and as a King, and I feel Psalm 62 has been written for such occasions. He starts the psalm by saying that only in God can his soul find rest and that as God is his rock, his salvation and fortress he feels he can never be shaken. He exalts us in verse 8 to - Trust in him (God) at times, O people; pour out your hearts to him, for God is our refuge.
I hope that we will learn to trust God more, as David did, and through this we will be able to pour out our hearts to him. When we truly trust in Him, we will find God to be our rest and refuge no matter what 2002 brings to us. Then, along with David we can say I will never be shaken.
May God richly bless you all in 2002.
Take care
Julie
