Delight yourself in the Lord and He will give you the desires of your heart’.  Psalm 37v4

Happy New Year to you all. But maybe you’re thinking what’s happy about it? Life’s awful, you see folk who aren’t Christians doing better than you, and you even wonder if being a Christian is worth it? Well if this is you – read Psalm 37, and be encouraged. If you are not in this frame of mind, still read it as it has something for us all.

The whole Psalm speaks of God’s care to those who love and follow Him, and of the outcomes for those who don’t. Take heart, it is worth it, so press on. Just the opening verses speak volumes:

v1 Do not fret

v3 Trust in the Lord and do good

v4 Delight yourselves in the Lord

v5 Commit your way to the Lord

v7 Be still before the Lord and wait patiently for Him

I hope that as we go into and through 2004, we will learn to stop fretting and start trusting and delighting in our Saviour who has done so much for us. As we do this our commitment to God will become stronger giving us the confidence to wait patiently for Him, as He leads and guides through each step of our lives.

May God richly bless you all this year.

Julie
