CHAIRMAN’S CHATTER

At a recent service that I attended, part of the talk was around signs, and especially those used by the early Church to recognise other Christians, such as the `fish’ symbol etc.

Later, while we were out walking we had a rain shower, but the sun was still shining and that caused me to look around for a sign that always brings out the `wow factor’ in me – a rainbow. Sadly I couldn’t see one on this occasion. But it made me remember the first rainbow back in Genesis 9, where God uses it as a sign of the covenant that He makes with Noah (and therefore us) not to totally destroy the earth by water again.

God knows us and He knows that we need reassurance. I’m sure that after all that Noah had been through, with the many years of preparation, being shut into the ark by God so that there was no going back, then being tossed back and forth until eventually coming to a resting place, a rain shower may of caused him to think – `oh no not again’. Then the rainbow appears and he remembers God’s promise and relaxes.

I hope that throughout the `storms’ of our lives we can also learn to look at the promises of God and rest in Him.

Take care.

Julie
