Thank you

I would like to extend the thanks of the Committee and the whole club to the excellent job that Ann Arnold has done in editing the Newsletter.  Ann took this on as a temporary measure and as a non-committee post, but has produced excellent newsletters for the last five years.  I am sure that we have all appreciated the professional layout and finish that she has produced.

New Committee Members
  • Julie Excell

Hi, I'm Julie from Bristol.  I have served on the committee before but as Resources Officer I hope to raise awareness of the club as much as I can.  If anyone has any ideas that are not too expensive let me know!  Also if you wish to purchase a 25th Anniversary sit mat or recipe book - please do contact me.

·        Kevin Pryor

I’m Kevin!  I’ve been a member of the club for four years and have been really blessed by my membership.  I joined because I wanted the opportunity to do more walking, but feel I have found a very precious part of Christ’s body as well.  I live in Cambridge, a lovely city and work in a large teaching hospital in the city.  I attend a fairly large evangelical Anglican Church which blesses me greatly, but also keeps me busy!  I have two sons, Jonathan and Ben and when I’m not doing something outdoors, I love good bookshops!

I have taken on a new role as Newsletter Editor.

Sad News

It is with sadness that I have to report the death of a CRC member, Sue Lee, from Norwich at the end of May.  Please pray for her friends and family.

Prayer Patter

From CRC's 25 year-celebration AGM:
I attended the AGM to celebrate 25 years of the CRC, and Alison asked me to lead the Sunday evening service. I didn't talk to Alison about what I was going to share, but on the Saturday evening she used two of the words I was to use when I spoke.  The words were challenge and change.  During an open prayer time someone prayed about not bearing fruit except a grain of wheat fall into the ground and dies.  This really impacted me and I was asking the Lord about what it could mean the following morning.  He reminded me of a chrysalis in a cocoon which has to break out of that which has been its structure and protection so that the butterfly can emerge.  It is a challenging process and has to be so that the butterfly develops the necessary strength for survival to fulfil its purpose.

Perhaps in this season the CRC is in a time of transition and moving from the old, familiar structure which has afforded protection and security in the early stages of development.  It is time for something different to emerge.  Maybe we can pray that God will give us the eyes to see the new thing He is wanting to birth.  It will in all probability look different, and we will need to shed the old to be able to embrace the new.

Maybe we will have to be prepared to move out of our comfort zone and embrace the changes which will enable us to go to unfamiliar places for the next season of our development.

Lord, please help us to let go of what's 'ours', and to trust You instead, in every circumstance of life.
